9 Free Apps To Up Your Insta Game

Apps.

2019 is the year I promised myself that I would grow creatively and I know a lot of people I follow are hoping to do the same so I thought I would share some apps and things that have been helping me create the visions I've had in my head for so long.

I'll start off with apps that I've mentioned before and you guys already most likely know.

VSCO:
when it comes to how I edit the colours of my instagram pictures on my blog account I use VSCO, it's probably the most used app by all content creators when it comes to a quick fix for changing the colours of a photo. It's simple and you can get a lot of the filters for free. I've used VSCO for over 5 years and will continue to do so as I love how it makes my photos look. The photo I posted to introduce this photo was edited using VSCO and you can check out my instagram to see all the other photos I've posted using it.

Afterlight:
Afterlight is great as you can do a variety of things on it. You can find filters for your pictures, edit your photo or add on effects. I use afterlight to add the 'dust' effect to my photo and to sometimes add in beams of light. You can also play around with colour shift, chroma and double exposure on there if you're really trying to stand out with your pictures.

Phonto:
Phonto is great for adding text to pictures. I love using it to create 'film still' kind of photos, I use it for my photography account also to try add some depth to the photos and to put across my thoughts more in a photo.

Unfold / Mojo / SCRL:
All of the apps listed above are great for when you want to up your instagram story game and content game. They all have such a great variation of layouts for you to use and I find them best for when it comes to making your travel content more fun to look at and for when you're promoting your blog post on twitter and getting people to notice it when scrolling. You don't have to do much, just pick your pictures and put them into the layout and before you know it your content looks 10x more interesting.

Over:
When it comes to my most recent instagram posts these are the photos I've been getting questions about the most and the app I've been using to create these photos is called 'over'. It's a fun and easy to use app that lets you add different fonts, template and graphics to your photos. I love using it for the paint brush effect as it is quicker than using photoshop.

8mm:
I love creating my film stories and posting them on my instagram story and for those who have wandered how I make them, I use the 8mm app for the app store. You can choose from different filters when creating your videos but I tend to stick to the same one. If you'd like to see an example of the film stories I've made the past you can check the highlight section of my instagram profile, there you can see all the ones I've previously shared with my followers.

Huji:
Huji is a great app for taking film type photos without having to own a film camera and without the extra cost. I don't really use huji so much for creating content but more so for documenting moments with loved ones or when I'm spending the day having some form of an adventure or even at concerts. I love using it during the summertime to try capture candid photos of friends and family, to create memories so I can then print them out later on and have physical copies of these moments.

A Design Kit:
A design kit is one I discovered recently when looking for new apps to mention in this post and I immediately fell in love with the brush option and used it to write on 'hello' on this picture (I know how original right?). You can also use it to add on some pretty cool fonts,  stickers and designs.

So there are 10 new apps for you, 9 of which are free to use, save your money and step your creativity up this year! I can't wait to come back with an updated version of this blog post for you guys in the future. If there is any I missed out, feel free to share them below and let me know how you get on with these apps! I hope you found this post useful.

until the next post,
with love yossy

  3. I adore your super creative photos so this post is wonderful! I've just downloaded Over and A Design Kit and I'm so excited to play around with them. You should try out SnapSeed- their grain option is amazing at giving photos a super old, vintage effect and I think it's the closest to looking like 35mm film- I think you'll really like it!
